KEITH JOHNSON and the BIG MUDDY BLUES BAND
35th INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE
Keith "The Prince of the Dellta Blues" Johnson is a young man with the soul and sound of an authentic blues man. Born and raised in the Mississippi Delta, and the great nephew of blues icon Muddy Waters, Keith bears a profound blues DNA. His song writing is mesmerizing, telling stories about life in Mississippi. He performs with passion, energy, and stage presence that is exciting and natural. Keith is formally educated in the entertainment industry. Touring in France, Switzerland, and Germany, he represents his alma mater, Delta State University, as an international ambassador.
During the summer of 2016, Keith completed his college internship with the 2010 IBC Winner and GRAMMY Award winning songwriter, Grady Champion. As a result of his internship placement, Keith participated in the 2016, 2017, and 2018 Chicago Blues Festival, where he met and performed with several veteran musicians who were band members of Muddy Waters, that included Lazy Lester and Eddie Shaw of the Wolfpack.
Keith’s most indelible memories of those times in Chicago was having the privilege to perform at the Willie Dixon Blues Heaven Foundation, and the historic Chess Records, where his great uncle, Muddy Waters recorded his most famous songs, written by fellow Mississippi blues man, Willie Dixon.
Recently, Keith released an album entitled “Come to Mississippi”.
Keith continues his family’s Blues legacy.
